Gnome Global Menu for Ubuntu

  1. Scroll to Adding this PPA to your system
  2. Click the link Technical details about this PPA
  3. Select your Ubuntu Version on the “Display sources.list entries for:” field
  4. Add the sources to as 3rd party source
  5. Reload Sources
  6. Open Terminal and type:
    sudo apt-get install gnome-globalmenu

Add Global Menu to your panel and enable it

  1. Right click on an empty part of your panel
  2. choose “Add to panel” from the popup menu
  3. Scroll down until you see “Global Menu Panel Applet”
  4. Select it and click “add” (or drag and drop it on the panel)
  5. GlobalMenu can now be enabled via the preferences dialog of the applet.
  6. Right Click on the applet
  7. Choose preferences
